| Sports Academy is working hard to promote boys volleyball across NC, more specifically central NC. Our goal is to bring awareness, interest, enthusiasm and elite training to our area. In 2010, we plan to field multiple teams 15-18 (known as Hail Storm) and under who will train with both Sports Academy and Carolina Region Hi Performance. In addition, we will hold skills development sessions for boys 10-14. Currently, we have athletes from Mooresville, Charlotte, Elkin, High Point, Raleigh, Greensboro and Waxaw. Hail Storm athletes are eligible to skill train with SA elite female teams in Iredell County. Whenever possible, Hail Storm team practice will be schedule based on participation and gym availability. It is also very important that each male athlete practice as much as possible on a men's height and are encouraged to seek league play and open gym in your immediate areas with adult males where possible (YMCA, Rec Centers, Leagues). Sports Academy is a strong supporter of High Performance and encourages all athletes, including Hail Storm, to participate in Carolina Region High Performance training dates. All HP athletes (male and female) are eligible to try out for the Carolina Region High Performance Boys and USA Volleyball National HP teams. In 2009, Carolina Region National High Performance Select Girls team included Isabella Zaliagiris and Sarah Van Horn with several boys competing on the boys team. Both girls and boys teams competed in the USA Volleyball HP National Championships in Austin, Tx. Physical Performance Training is the key to success of all our teams. We are committed to promoting healthy lifestyles through nutrition, sport specific plyometrics (jump), speed, strength training and positive attitudes and personal motivation. Sports Academy partnered with Physical Performance Center to realize the maximun potential of all athletes. Hail Storm is no exception. Athletes who participated in this program saw increases in their vertical leap of more than 2" in less than 60 days and increased speeds on 10 and 50 yard sprint. |
